The Destiny Grind Continues…by Robot?

Gamers will always look for the quickest way or the easiest way to grind out tasks. They’ll all tell you how much of a “chore” it is to grind for those precious levels, items, gear and the ever sought after “cosmetic pieces.” Which are nothing but something pretty to look at. This player, yavin427, has taken it to the next level.

Now, we all know that RPG’s and MMO’s can be a bit of a grind. It just goes with the territory. It’s something everyone that’s played a game like Destiny can attest to.

Yavin’s method for grinding uses a “servomechanism” to automate meleeing and shooting in Destiny while standing in place. Now, keep in mind it’s a pretty archaic system. We’ve seen things like this for many games before. I remember seeing my brother tape down the Green Button on the Guitar Hero guitar in order to beat “Through the Fire and Flames” on Expert.

 

This quick mechanism allows Yavin to open a story mission on the moon “Ocean of Storms” and get to work. This level has a point in the mission that will continuously rush enemies at you, and if you die, big surprise – you start over at the checkpoint that spawns the mob.

Yavin’s original version of his “robot controller” only allowed his character to melee over and over. In the video below you see he made an improvement by adding in an option to shoot in between the melee’s as well, adding in more kills and in turn, more experience.

“Woke up this morning to a brand new 20!,” Yavin wrote on Reddit. “Had about 3600 kills, and 900 deaths (lol), and like 50 green engrams. I started at level 16.5 yesterday afternoon, and reached 20 sometime while I was asleep. “Seems to be getting anywhere from 15 to 215 exp per run, depending on timing,”

While writing this, I thought to myself:

“Why not get a friend or two in the same match, with the same setup, and increase kills/experience gained by that much”?

But hey, that’s just my brain working out a way to maximize your system. If you’re going to cheat and take the easy way out, at least go all out.

Personally, this kind of thing is what is wrong with people these days. Everyone wants everything to be done, but they don’t want to do it themselves. Congrats on getting a character to level 20 without doing anything. But for me, I’ll stick with the good ol’ fashioned route and mow my way through enemies and missions.

Besides, it only takes a solid 7-8 hours of solo game-play to get all the way through level 20.
