Chris Pratt Courted for Indiana Jones Reboot
It was only a matter of time.
In a report that surprises absolutely no one but nonetheless has everyone coming down with a bad case of the vapors, Disney has Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World star Chris Pratt in early talks to portray the new Indiana Jones.
Since reboots are flying out the wazoo these days and its Lucasfilm sibling Star Wars is undergoing its own, Indiana Jones was bound to have its day. It just so happens that this is one of the few times the world can reach a consensus on this casting rumor.
Chris Pratt has become the action movie golden boy, with his Parks and Rec days behind him. Harrison Ford was not so different when he hit his peak, and hearing this news was almost entirely predictable, especially after seeing Pratt suited up in his duds for his role in Jurassic World.
Can Pratt replace Harrison Ford? Unlikely, as Ford will forever remain an iconic figure. But can he continue this modern embodiment of the puckish rogue we’ve all been waiting for? Undoubtedly. He came through for us as Star-Lord and it can be assumed he will again as the main protagonist for Jurassic World. I would put my money on him being a damned incredible Indiana Jones as well.
I have much more faith in Pratt undertaking the role than I ever did at the suggestion of Shia LaBeouf being given the chance at it. After Pratt’s amazing performance in Guardians, he has my full vote to accept this role. And for my sake, the sake of the Indiana Jones franchise, and the sake of its fans everywhere, I truly hope he does.
