10 trailers to look for during the super bowl

We all know that the Super Bowl is one of the biggest advertising events of the year. With an audience of millions, the game is a cultural event where companies are able to reach a massive demographic with a single ad. It’s long been a staple for movie trailers as well, with many studios unveiling new footage to ensure their film will be a hit at the box office.

Since I don’t follow sports and thus can’t speculate about how the game will go down, I’m stuck doing the next best thing: Speculating on the trailer’s we’ll see during the Super Bowl. While there are rumors about trailers for Entourage, Pitch Perfect 2, and others, I’m going to be sticking mainly to genre films or summer action blockbusters for my speculation.

Jurassic World‘s Super Bowl trailer leaked a few weeks back, so we can safely say we’ll be seeing some footage during this weekend’s game. The new spot will include more footage of Chris Pratt training velociraptors, and will also officially unveil the new dinosaur hinted at in the previous trailer.

From what I understand, it’s been all but confirmed that we’ll get a trailer for Furious 7 during the Superbowl. This will mark the final film by Paul Walker, though not the final film in the franchise. These movies have been hugely successful, and it’s not likely they’ll stop making them anytime soon.

There are a lot of rumors around the web saying we’ll get another trailer for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens this Sunday. I honestly think this one is a long shot with the film not coming out until December. But, as I can always use more Star Wars in my life, here’s to hoping these rumors are true.

Seth MacFarlane’s R-rated comedy about a living teddy bear will be getting a sequel this year, and it’s been confirmed we’ll see a trailer for Ted 2 during the Super Bowl. Mark Wahlberg is great in a comedic role, and I can’t wait to see him and MacFarlane on the screen together again.

With it’s release later that week, Warner Bros would be foolish to skip building some last minute buzz for Jupiter Ascending. This movie is a big risk for WB, with an unconventional sci-fi/fantasy world sure to alienate and/or confuse some and hefty cost of $175 million, they’ll likely be doing whatever they can to get us into the theaters February 6th.

Aside from a few leaked set photos, we haven’t seen anything for Sony’s Fantastic 4 reboot yet (Seriously, not even any promotional pics, which explains the comic book art I had to use for this entry). I would say that’s not a good sign, especially after how The Amazing Spider-Man 2 turned out. But, it’s more likely that the studio is playing their cards close to the vest in preparation for a big reveal. This Sunday would be the ideal time to unleash the trailer and start the hype machine for Sony’s next big superhero effort.

It has been heavily rumored that the first trailer for Superman v Batman: Dawn of Justice will air during the Super Bowl. However, as the film won’t release until 2016, I’d say it’s unlikely. More likely is the rumor that we’ll get our first look during the release of Jupiter Ascending, as Warner Bros is behind both films. It’s never too early to start building buzz (is it?), so I’m not counting this one out of the SB just yet.

Spectre, the latest film in the James Bond franchise, has been filming for a few weeks already. There may be just enough footage for fans to get a first look at the film. If we’re lucky, we might just get to see Christoph Waltz or Dave Bautista in their roles as Bond villains for the film.

Historically, Marvel has utilized the Super Bowl to push a single movie to those who somehow aren’t already aware that superhero flicks are thing now. The question this year, is if we’ll see footage for Avengers: Age of Ultron or Ant-Man. Smart money would be on Avengers, as the rumored tie-ins to Ant-Man will likely push audiences who see AAoU to see the other.

Rumors are flying that we’ll see a story trailer for Terminator: Genisys during the game. With the movie releasing July 4th weekend, we should expect to see this pushed hard. This would be a great way to reach a huge audience, dazzle them with Schwarzenegger’s return to the franchise, and ensure butts in the seats this summer.

Think we got it? Think we’re way off the mark? Let us know in the comments below!
