A few months ago rumors began circling a few actors for the role of Dr Stephen Strange. One of those actors was Benedict Cumberbatch. But now thanks to a new interview with MTV we know that he officially will not be taking the role.
“As far as I’m aware, even if that was the case, it couldn’t work out because I’m doing a little play called ‘Hamlet’ in London, So I don’t think I could even if that was in the cards. It sounds like a fantastic project. It’s a shame if I miss out, but who knows?”
When finally asked if there were there ever any talks with him about the role he simply stated:
“I couldn’t possibly comment,”
Well there you have it. For many this comes as a unfortunate blow to the hopes that we would have a sophisticated British Dr Strange, but with his plate already full with his current projects, Benedict Cumberbatch was really just wishful thinking.
Doctor Strange is currently set for an unknown release date a part of Marvel Phase 3.
