Its no secret that fans didn’t take well to the announcement that Jason Biggs would be taking on the role of Leonardo in Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon reboot. But after two seasons its hard to remember that people were upset by this.
But now, IGN is reporting that along with the show getting a premature Season 4 order, Jason Biggs will be leaving the show at the conclusion of Season 2, making way for Seth Green to step up and take his place as Leonardo.
‘Jason is pursuing other projects and we wish him the best.’
With Jason Biggs lately giving a supporting role to the Netflix Original show Orange Is The New Black and now has a show called “Deadbeat” that is currently in pre-production, it would make sense that as his plate gets heavier, his desire to do a voice on a children’s cartoon would lessen.
So will he make the cut as Leonardo? Absolutely. Will he be what fans are expecting? Probably not. But that was the same argument that was poised when Jason Biggs was first announced as the leading turtle back in 2011.
Seth Green will be officially stepping up as Leonardo starting This fall with the debut of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Season 3 and continuing with Season 4.
