[Rumor] Youtube May Buy Twitch.tv for $1 Billion

Sources at Variety have reported that there is a deal in the works that may end with Youtube acquiring the rapidly growing streaming service, Twitch.tv for an estimated $1 billion.

The deal is expected to be officially announced “imminently,” and if finalized, would make Youtube the largest user-streaming service on the Internet.  In March, a study showed that Twitch even outranked HBO Go, coming in with 1.35% of total Internet bandwith usage.

We will keep our eyes on the situation, and report as more information becomes available, so stay tuned!
