Fantastic Four Reboot Adds Talent from ‘The Wire’ for Dr. Storm

The Fantastic Four reboot has been a bit of a crazy roller-coaster ride of a movie; they’ve gone through multiple script changes, lots of casting rumors, and they even announced the sequel before they even started filming the first movie.

A new actor has been added to the cast; actor Reg E Cathey (The Wire) will be joining the project as Dr. Franklin Storm, Sue and Johnny’s father. Just in time too, since filming started a few days ago.

Cathey has worked with Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara (Johnny and Sue Storm, respectively), so adapting into a role as their on-screen father shouldn’t be too difficult for the seasoned actor.

The addition of Dr. Storm into the story does change things a bit, as the character is largely unnecessary for the classic Fantastic Four origin story. He is, however, an important character in the Ultimate Fantastic Four storyline, so it’s possible that director Josh Trank will be following the ‘Ultimate’ version. This theory is further supported by the fact that Dr. Doom (Toby Kebbell) and Moleman (Tim Blake Nelson) will be the main villains in the movie, which was also the case in the comicbook version.

Miles Teller and Jamie Bell fill out the quintessential quartet as Reed Richards and Ben Grimm. The film is set for a June 19, 2015 release.
