Lex Luthor, Martian Manhunter, and Brianiac all being included in Batman/Superman?

Earlier this morning the site Cosmic Book News posted a new “exclusive” scoop that they claim came from a trusted source in regards to the upcoming Batman/Superman film in 2015.

While the site Cosmic Book News doesn’t have the best track record, and normally their “exclusive scoops” never seem to pan out, it (just like any other rumor) may turn out to be true in the end, so for now let’s take it all with a grain of salt and get into reading their revealed info.

They start off by addressing the Bryan Cranston rumors stating that it was indeed true that he landed the role, but actually backed down after he changed his mind about taking on the role, at which point WB/DC decided to look for a “younger” Lex Luthor which is now why Juaquin Pheonix is currently in that mix.

He also addressed the DC Move/ TV shared universe theory that many were hoping to be a reality with:

The source also told me WB TV would be separate than the movie universe, which Arrow executive producer Greg Berlanti recently implied.

And while yes it’s true, Greg Berlanti did say that as of that moment he hasn’t heard that they are planning on being connected, his official quote was:

“We haven’t had any of those conversations other than to say, what characters are we allowed to use this year and advocate or request certain ones that are of interest to us, and every now and then, they’ll say, ‘You can’t have that guy.’ They don’t say why, and we figure out why later on.”

Which isn’t exactly a denial or confirmation of anything but being left in the dark about WB/DC’s plans.

They also go on to shed some light on what could potentially be the villain plans for the film:

I’m also told it looks as if they have chopped the idea of having a Batman villain in the movie, and it looks likely that three Superman villains will be featured with Luthor, Metallo and Brainiac.

While this is the first time Brianiac has been thrown into the mix, it’s an unusual and unexpected add-on to what fans we’re expecting. One would think that the team behind the film would move away from an alien villain right after the last film, one of whom that could easily best both Luthor and Metallo.

Their report also goes onto address the recent rumors of actor Jason Momoa being in the mix for a currently unknown role, they claim that the rumor is true, and its indeed for The Martian Manhunter.

Finally they seemingly indicate that the final 20min of the film is where all the cameos will take place. Flash, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, etc; all set to pop up at the tail end of the film battling some unknown villain and leading into the Justice League film itself.

At this point all of these rumors, like said before, should be taken with a grain of salt, but one could easily admit, it would sure make one awesome film to see.

Batman/Superman is currently set for a July 17th 2015 release date.
