To many fans disappointment, in a recent press roundtable with Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House said that there are currently no plans to bring the upcoming PS Vita TV to the US or European markets.
However, the site Nikkei has reported House saying the following:
“SCE will release the PS Vita TV in Japan Nov 14, 2013, and in other countries after that. The reason why it will be launched in Japan earlier than in other countries is that there is no leading company in Japan’s video streaming market. The company is planning to sell the PS Vita TV in China, South Korea, etc, but not in the US and European market at this point.”
The key thing to take away from that statement is the clarifying moment when he states “but not in the US and European market at this point.“
While its true, at this point Japan is leading the world in the Video Streaming Market, BUT this past year has shown some substantial strides in the US market for video streaming. Obviously if Sony sees bringing the PS Vita TV to the West as a financial gain rather than a potential fail it can easily happen.
But until then, we in the West have to wait.
