Goals added to Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter for PS4/Xbox One Ports

We here at The Cultured Nerd have been watching this game pretty closely, and it looks like Mighty No. 9 has added some new goals to their stretch goals list. PS4 and Xbox One ports for the game have been introduced as a possible option, with the hefty backing goal of $3.3 million.

Lookout! It’s ‘Lighter-Man!’

Now that might seem like a ridiculous goal for a humble little Kickstarter project with an original goal of $900,000, but this project has pulled in a cool $1.9 million worth of pledges in only 9 days. It’s over halfway to its new goal already, and we’ve still got 22 more days to go.

The game designers seem to be extremely pumped about the overwhelming support they’ve received, and have been releasing concept art for some of the other ‘Mighty’ bosses. Feast your eyes on the sneak peek of “Mighty No. 1.”

So far, handheld console versions have yet to make an appearance on the stretch goals list, but the developers remain optimistic about them being available:

Handhelds are still a possibility! Just because you don’t see them in this next set of goals doesn’t mean we aren’t working on this. We know many of you have been asking about the possibility of Vita and 3DS versions of Mighty No. 9, so now we know the desire is most definitely there — what’s left is to figure out if the money and production realities can make this possible. We wish we could say more at this point, but we can say this: There might be other ways to make this happen (besides stretch goals) that we are currently investigating.

It seems this delay in adding handhelds to the stretch goals list may have something to do with the developer’s unfamiliarity with next-gen consoles, which is why we didn’t initially see PS4 or Xbox One on the list.

Another note of importance is that even if a PlayStation Vita version doesn’t get made, PS Vita users may still be able to play the PS4 version (as long as that gets made), thanks to the remote play feature of the just-announced PS Vita TV.
We’ll be sure to watch for any further developments for Mighty No. 9.
