In a surprise twist of events, Square Enix revealed this morning at their E3 Conference that Final Fantasy XV, which itself is a re-branding of the previously announced PS3 Exclusive Final Fantasy Versus XIII, is going multiplatform and will be available on both PS4 and Xbox One upon launch.
“It was a huge amount of joy that we were finally able to announce Final Fantasy 15,” – said producer Shinji Hashimoto.
Final Fantasy XV is currently being developed with DirectX 11, which Hashimoto said made it solely possible to port the title to different hardware so easily. Because of this, they stated they are able to make this game so easily multiplatform.
There was no confirmation if the Xbox One edition would be USA only, given how widely unpopular Microsoft’s consoles are in Japan, many Japanese developers have resorted to only releasing the Xbox version of their games in that one particular region.
