The water bear
So this little guy is known as a water bear or Paramacrobiotus craterlak.
These little invertebrates reside is aquatic to semi-aquatic habitats such as moss and lichen. Not only can they survive in crazy hot temperatures and the high pressure of the deep ocean, they can survive in high levels of radiation and even space!
These tiny creatures can grow to about 1.5 millimeters and have 8 legs. Each leg is complete with 4-8 claws on each tiny limb. The name comes from the German translation kleiner Wasserbär, meaning “tiny water bear” because the way they walk is similar to that of an actual bear.
Why am I talking about this fantastic little creature? Well, because why not. I know I always like learning new things, so I hope all of you do as well.
