The Avengers 2 gets an official release date

Big news is afoot, Walt Disney Studios has officially confirmed that the anticipated release date for  Joss Whedon’s upcoming written-and-directed follow-up to Marvel’s The Avengers.

“SEQUEL TO MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS TO HIT THEATERS MAY 1, 2015

The Walt Disney Studios has announced a release date for Marvel Studios’ sequel to the biggest Super Hero blockbuster and third highest grossing film of all time, Marvel’s The Avengers. Joss Whedon returns to write and direct the UNTITLED MARVEL’S AVENGERS SEQUEL set for release May 1, 2015.”

This confirmation actually comes a week after the huge (and I do mean significantly huge) announcement that Joss Whedon will return to write and direct the sequel his exclusive deal with Marvel Studios actually calls for creative contribution to all the other Phase Two films that will be helping to build up and lead to The Avengers sequel. That includes the main big ones: Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier that have been already dated, as well as the newcomers to the Marvel pallet such as: Guardians of the Galaxy, And possibly the long rumored production of Ant-Man.
