The Denver Post broke the story that Christian Bale has visited the victims of last Thursday night’s shooting at the Medical Center of Aurora in Colorado.
In a statement issued earlier yesterday by an assistant for Susan Fleishman, the Executive VP for Warner Brothers Corporate Communications:
“Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers.”
Internet sites across the board had started petitions to get the actor to do this, the fact that he did this on his own, taking a break from his rounds to promote this movie and appear at its premiers, and without making a press spectacle about it is a very honorable thing. He went there on his own, unannounced and visited these people to over his support and condolences.
Earlier this past week, Bale had released a statement in regards to the tragedy:
“Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them.”
