According to a recent post via twitter, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada confirmed that he just came out of a Final Fantasy Versus XIII meeting, and the game is very much still alive.

ヴェルサスがキャンセルされたってデマ流してるやつがいるらしい。フフ..たった今ヴェルサス定例会議が終わったとこ。今日プレゼンされた街なんぞ見たら腰抜かすでぇ~w
Which roughly translates to:
“There’s someone playing a hoax that Versus was cancelled. Haha…Just a minute ago, the regular Versus meeting ended. If you saw the presentation of the city, it’d knock you off your feet ~ lol”
This is wonderful news, but… I cant help but feel that if the game was just simply renamed Final Fantasy XV it would do better. People seem to still have a sour taste in their mouths for what Final Fantasy XIII (and its sequels) turned out to be. But, the news is here, the game still lives, And now fans can rejoice.
