{"id":8913,"date":"2013-06-24T13:12:08","date_gmt":"2013-06-24T20:12:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theculturednerd.com\/?p=8913"},"modified":"2013-06-24T13:12:08","modified_gmt":"2013-06-24T20:12:08","slug":"ellen-page-goes-to-reddit-and-says-the-last-of-us-ripped-off-her-likeness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theculturednerd.org\/?p=8913","title":{"rendered":"Ellen Page goes to Reddit and says The Last of Us &#8216;ripped off&#8217; her likeness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theculturednerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Ellen-Page.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8914\" alt=\"Ellen Page\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theculturednerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Ellen-Page.jpg\" width=\"664\" height=\"374\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While there is no denying that the character of Ellie in the highly praised game, The Last Of Us, by legendary developer Naughty Dog has an uncanny resemblance to actress Ellen Page, it has now gotten to the point that the actress herself had to speak out on the similarities.<\/p>\n<p>The following is taken from\u00a0a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/IAmA\/comments\/1gxgfx\/i_am_actress_ellen_page_amaa\/caorlh8\">Reddit AMA<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theculturednerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/mozeo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8915\" alt=\"mozeo\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theculturednerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/mozeo.jpg\" width=\"786\" height=\"151\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To this the actress Ellen Page responded with the following:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theculturednerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/ellen.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8916\" alt=\"ellen\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theculturednerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/ellen.jpg\" width=\"787\" height=\"58\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theculturednerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Ellie.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-8918 alignleft\" alt=\"Ellie\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theculturednerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Ellie.jpg\" width=\"324\" height=\"575\" \/><\/a>Now this isn&#8217;t the first time fans have acknowledged the similarities between Ellie and Ellen Page.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously for starters the characters names are strikingly similar, but not only that, the first revealed character model for Ellie did in fact look uncannily like the actress, even inasmuch that Naughty Dog eventually went in, redesigned the character and took away most of those similarities.<\/p>\n<p>These changes were revealed in the Truck Ambush cinematic preview, and\u00a0\u00a0that Ellie had been redesigned to bear a greater resemblance to her voice actor&#8217;s appearance and personality.<\/p>\n<p>Neil Druckmann, the game&#8217;s creative director, spoke of the change, stating:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em> &#8220;after delving further into the game&#8217;s narrative over the past few months, we decided to modify Ellie&#8217;s model to better reflect Ashley&#8217;s personality, and also resemble a slightly younger teen more fitting to the story. We&#8217;re happy with the final result shown in the cinematic we have released today, and we hope the fans like her too.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>While many state that the resemblance is still there, even after the massive overhaul on the characters image, it is interesting to see that Ellen Page herself feels that her likeness was &#8220;Ripped&#8221; off by the company that is currently housing the \u00a0other exclusive game she herself is starring in.<\/p>\n<p>The Last Of Us is currently available as a PS3 exclusive.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-summary\">\n&nbsp;
