In a reveal that probably result in many fans being torn between their feeligns, it has been revealed that actor William Fichtner will be playing the coveted role of the iconic villain, The Shredder, in the upcoming reboot Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.<\/p>\n

The reveal came from when the actor was recently\u00a0chatting with\u00a0HuffPost Canada TV<\/a>:<\/p>\n

I play Shredder. It is cool. It\u2019s one of those things that came along where I thought, \u201cReally? Let me think about this for a minute.\u201d [Laughs] Then I was like, \u201cYeah, OK, this sounds like a journey.\u201d I\u2019m very glad that it worked out, I\u2019m really glad that I\u2019m doing it.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Speculation that the actor would be taking on this role has been running for week, so it may not come as a surprise for many. The rumors and speculation began once the director himself,\u00a0Jonathan Liebesman,<\/strong>\u00a0stated that the actor would be playing a character \u00a0\u201cwith iconic stature in the Turtles\u2019 mythology.\u201d Which led many to speculate that he would be playing either The Shredder,Baxter Stockman, The Rat King, and even Casey Jones.<\/p>\n

While it hasn’t been confirmed which incarnation of The Shredder that Fichtner will be playing, ranging from the villainous (and Japanese) Oroku Saki, to the more recently portrayed “immortal” robotic version which basically has The Shredders body being an exo-suit for one of the alien Utroms (Krang is one of those).<\/p>\n

In the end, only time will tell. Personally I think Fichtner is an amazing actor and he could very well fill the role despite any incarnation they decide to go with. Currently\u00a0\u00a0Paramount has\u00a0Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles<\/em>\u00a0scheduled for a\u00a0June 6, 2014, <\/strong>so odds are we will see more of it sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
