{"id":8496,"date":"2013-05-28T12:51:05","date_gmt":"2013-05-28T19:51:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theculturednerd.com\/?p=8496"},"modified":"2013-05-28T12:51:05","modified_gmt":"2013-05-28T19:51:05","slug":"hugh-jackman-loves-the-idea-of-an-avengers-and-x-men-movie-crossover-for-one-reason-above-all-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theculturednerd.org\/?p=8496","title":{"rendered":"Hugh Jackman loves the idea of An AVENGERS And X-MEN Movie Crossover.. for one reason above all others"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theculturednerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/blackpanther42p21sb1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8497\" alt=\"blackpanther42p21sb1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theculturednerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/blackpanther42p21sb1.jpg\" width=\"974\" height=\"683\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/screenrant.com\/hugh-jackman-wolverine-avengers-crossover\/\">Screen Rant <\/a>recently caught up with actor Hugh Jackman on the set of The Wolverine and got him talking about his opinion of the idea that one day both studios would collaborate and allow some sort of cross over, in which the actor revealed that he would love to make some sort of Avengers and X-Men crossover a reality.<\/p>\n<p>As of right now, it&#8217;s widely believed that the relationship between Marvel Studios and 20th Century Fox is not only rocky, but even a little contentious, especially after all the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.theculturednerd.com\/2013\/05\/quicksilver-joins-the-cast-of-x-men-days-of-future-past-but-what-about-avengers-2\/\"> recent developments with Quicksilver <\/a>and what some are saying points to Fox trying to scoop Marvel\/Disney, but surprisingly Jackman hopes that they can one day both companies can literally put their differences (and their legal rights) aside and give the fans what they want, a true crossover like we get every week in the comics.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;You know, obviously we have people from\u2014one of the great things about this movie is that a lot of people from Marvel are here and it seems a lot more inclusive than it has been in the past. I don\u2019t know what\u2019s happening behind the scenes, but I think it\u2019s fantastic. I actually just asked the other day, I said, \u2018I don\u2019t know what the legal situation is, but why don\u2019t these companies come together? Why isn\u2019t it possible?\u2019 Because personally, I would love to mix it up with Robert Downey Jr. and Iron Man and kick his ass. It\u2019d be great. (laughs) There you go. There\u2019s your quote. (Laughs)&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The unfortunate fact of the matter is that as fans we know that this sort of collaboration would turn out to be incredibly unlikely, but that doesn&#8217;t mean we cant all hope for this, and it sure would make the ideas of a Civil War based film much more of a practical idea. Even late last year, Lauren Shuler Donner (X-Men franchise producer) also expressed her own interest and hope that one day both studios would allow a crossover of sorts between them, even if it was subtle.\u00a0 At one point, she worked with the current Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige, on the first X-Men film back in the late 90s.<\/p>\n<p>Hugh Jackman would continue his interview with reflecting on how well the experience that he himself had with Kevin Feige when they first met during his original\u00a0<em>X-Men<\/em> audition:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cI think it\u2019d be fantastic. I loved The Avengers. I love what they do with it. Kevin Feige, by the way, I can tell you is one of the true gentlemen of this business. And I say that from when he was on X-Men 1, and I don\u2019t even know what his role was, officially, associate producer maybe? But, when I first auditioned for Bryan [Singer], Dougray [Scott] was playing the role. Bryan\u2026 I think I was sent there by the studio. I don\u2019t think he even knew I was coming, and it was one of those auditions you walk out going, \u2018Well, I know this isn\u2019t happening.\u2019 Instead of just putting me on a plane, I remember him taking me out, him and Tom DeSanto took me out for a restaurant because I had to stay overnight. It was too late. They took me out for dinner. I remember thinking, I go, \u2018Well, I know I\u2019m not in this movie, so you guys are true gentlemen.\u2019 They were really nice. I know how busy they were. They were already filming at the time, and I know I really wasn\u2019t doing it. I know what was going on behind the scenes. And within a week, all of a sudden the Dougray thing started to unravel. So then, I went back and did a real audition. But the first one, I don\u2019t know what the first one was, maybe for the studio to see me more. I don\u2019t know, or maybe they were anticipating what was coming. Who knows? But anyway, I just always remember Kevin and I have such a soft spot for him, and I\u2019m in touch with him and I don\u2019t know how I got onto that. But anyway, I\u2019m basically really happy and proud of what he\u2019s achieved. I think he\u2019s making great movies. People love them. And consistency is incredible. So, who wouldn\u2019t want to be involved with that?&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>While it is true, we all hope for this, its very unlikely that we may see it anytime soon. But we can indeed hope for the best.
