\"Anthony-Mackie\"<\/a> While promoting his new film, Michael Bay’s Pain and Gain<\/em><\/strong>, Black Film<\/a> caught up\u00a0with Anthony Mackie<\/strong> and got him talking about his new role in the next Captain America<\/em><\/strong> Film as Sam Wilson AKA The Falcon<\/strong>, which has currently begun filming.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m happy to say that I\u2019m in a good deal of the movie and I play an integral part with Captain America taking down the winter soldier. It\u2019s great. They started the shoot 2 1\/2 weeks ago and once I finished doing press for \u2018Pain & Gain,\u2019 I go in and join them. I\u2019ve been doing combat training and fitness training just to get prepared. It\u2019s going to be something and I\u2019m excited for it.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

When asked about the recent concept art for\u00a0The Falcon<\/strong>\u00a0that was\u00a0revealed\u00a0earlier\u00a0this month with the release of the\u00a0Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One Collecter’s Set<\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0Mackie<\/strong>\u00a0stated this about the costume:<\/p>\n

\u201cThey just released pictures of the costume last week. It\u2019s more of a military style tactical costume. He\u2019s more along the lines of Captain America as far as superhero as opposed to a true superhero.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And when asked if he was\u00a0familiar\u00a0with the character prior to being cast Mackie<\/strong> replied:<\/p>\n

\u201cI had never heard of the Falcon. I knew nothing about him. Once they sent me the comic book and told me everything they wanted me to do, I read up some and looked up his story. I\u2019m really excited. He\u2019s a cool character and we need that. We that (black) superhero that looks like them.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Then speaking with Collider<\/a>, the actor revealed that he’ll be taking part in the upcoming filming that takes place in Manhatten Beach<\/strong> and Cleveland<\/strong>. And with the actor now having to slim down for the role (due to his bulking up for the role in Pain and Gain<\/em><\/strong>) the actor stated:<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, it\u2019s more so a cardio thing now. I mean, you know, if you\u2019re a super hero\u2026 I didn\u2019t want to get too bulky. You know there\u2019s a lot of limitations to how big I was for Pain and Gain, whereas with this I just want to be fit, you know. I just want to be in shape to where I can go in and do all the stunts and all the things I feel like I would need to do to bring this character to life. So, it all depends. I met with the studio very early on and I told them I was going to throw on some weight and get bigger and they said, \u201cNo, no, no, no don\u2019t do that. Stay a smaller weight and we\u2019ll figure out something character-wise.\u201d So, you know, that\u2019s kind of what it turned into.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Captain America: The Winter Soldier<\/strong><\/em> is scheduled to hit US<\/strong> theaters in 2D<\/strong> and 3D<\/strong> on\u00a0April 4, 2014<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
