{"id":7276,"date":"2013-01-16T14:30:10","date_gmt":"2013-01-16T22:30:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wakingideas.com\/blog\/?p=7276"},"modified":"2013-01-16T14:30:10","modified_gmt":"2013-01-16T22:30:10","slug":"is-michael-cerveris-playing-lex-luthor-in-the-man-of-steel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theculturednerd.org\/?p=7276","title":{"rendered":"Is Michael Cerveris playing Lex Luthor in The Man of Steel?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-7294\" alt=\"Fringe511\" src=\"http:\/\/wakingideas.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Fringe511.jpg\" width=\"402\" height=\"320\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The other night I was watching <strong><em>Fringe<\/em><\/strong>, a TV show on <strong>Fox<\/strong> that is more or less an acid induced love child between <strong><em>The X-Files<\/em> <\/strong>and<strong><em> LOST<\/em><\/strong>, and with this Friday&#8217;s episode marking the end of the show as its series finale airs, I decided to get my phone out and check out the <strong>IMDB<\/strong> profile for &#8220;<strong>Michael Cerveris<\/strong>&#8221; an actor on the show who has played &#8220;<strong>The Observer September<\/strong>&#8221; over the course of the entire show, who I believe is probably one of the best characters in the show.<\/p>\n<p>While I was looking through his profile on <strong>IMDB<\/strong>, which pretty much indicated that he hasn&#8217;t done much at all, I stumbled upon the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0148964\/bio#trivia\">actors trivia page<\/a> and found this:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7297\" alt=\"lex\" src=\"http:\/\/wakingideas.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/lex.jpg\" width=\"1035\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Immediately I was confused. No where in this actors film career has he ever played the role of <strong>Lex Luthor<\/strong>, but there this small simple statement was. I soon found myself searching for this link throughout <strong>IMDB&#8217;s<\/strong> message boards but found nothing, then over to <strong>Google<\/strong> to hopefully find some connection.<\/p>\n<p>I found several several article posts from various<a href=\"http:\/\/moviehole.net\/201145783michael-cerveris-up-for-superman%E2%80%99s-lex-luthor\"> websites <\/a>from late 2011 that all indicated the same thing, there was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.movienewz.com\/michael-cerveris-up-for-supermans-lex-luthor\/\">a rumor<\/a> that <strong>Warner Brothers<\/strong> was looking at casting <strong>Michael Cerveris<\/strong> for the role of <strong>Lex Luthor<\/strong> in a cameo appearance of sorts, setting up for a larger role in future <strong><em>Man of Steel<\/em><\/strong> sequels.<\/p>\n<p>But beyond that initial posting, the news stopped.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7295 alignright\" alt=\"3668966_14dcd7c6-80f8-4b84-915e-8bb40e11cd3c-012309michael-cerveris-by-ken-browar\" src=\"http:\/\/wakingideas.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/3668966_14dcd7c6-80f8-4b84-915e-8bb40e11cd3c-012309michael-cerveris-by-ken-browar.jpg\" width=\"250\" height=\"259\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then it seemed all the news from <em><strong>Man of Steel<\/strong><\/em> was surrounding the casting of other characters in other roles, and eventually this rumor was sidelined and forgotten.<\/p>\n<p>So why does <strong>IMDB<\/strong> have this listed in its trivia section?
