\"41vvkqCy5XL._SS500_\"Assassin’s Creed Vol 1 – Desmond<\/em><\/strong> is the first volume in a series of French graphic novels created by Eric Corbeyran<\/strong> and Djilalli Defali.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The series itself first debuted back in 2009, with a volume releasing each year since then. Now Titan Books<\/strong> has localized and\u00a0released\u00a0all 3 volumes for the first time in English for fans of the series here in the US.<\/p>\n

The series tells the story of Desmond<\/strong> from\u00a0the\u00a0game, but goes into a much different story than that seen in the games.\u00a0The graphic novels take the stories from the game and expound on it, adding bits and pieces, characters, and interactions that did not exist in the games. While the books are not\u00a0officially\u00a0Assassin’s Creed<\/strong><\/em> Cannon, they still offer a very exciting and worthwhile read.<\/p>\n

Volume 1 – Desmond<\/em> <\/strong>– Tells the story of the first game leading up to Lucy<\/strong> helping Desmond<\/strong> escape from Abstergo<\/strong>. But unlike the game, the book reveals more history on Subject 16<\/strong>, and how Abstergo<\/strong> was using both Clay\/Subject 16<\/strong> and Desmond<\/strong> to delve into the memories of a Roman assassin<\/strong> by the name of Aquilus.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Throughout the events of the novel, you find that Aquilus<\/strong> was in fact in contact with a Piece of Eden<\/strong>. But as the novel progresses it seems to line itself up more with the events of the first game, showing Altair<\/strong>, and his final\u00a0confrontation\u00a0with his master, Al Mualim<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

All in all, Assassin’s Creed vol 1 – Desmond<\/em><\/strong> was an extremely\u00a0entertaining\u00a0read. Having played all the games I caught all the hidden references with ease, but heavily enjoyed the story additions.<\/p>\n

Bottom line, if you are a fan of comic books and Assassin’s Creed<\/em><\/strong>, this comic book series is a must.<\/p>\n
