Not to long ago we shared<\/a> the news that Shailene Woodley<\/strong> was being sought to play the role of Mary Jane Watson<\/strong> in the upcoming sequel to Marc Webb’s<\/strong> The Amazing Spider-Man<\/em><\/strong> franchise. Marc Webb<\/strong> which is currently just being referred to as The Amazing Spider-Man 2<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Now, Woodley<\/strong> has offically now been confirmed<\/a> to play Mary Jane Watson.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So how will this all work? According to rumors, Woodley\u2019s<\/strong> part in The Amazing Spider-Man 2<\/em><\/strong> will actually be a small one in comparison to the role of Gwen Stacy<\/strong>, which mainly is to set up a much larger role for the 3rd installment of the trilogy.<\/p>\n

Hollywood Reporter<\/a>\u00a0 broke the news and with it, revealed some huge news about the future of the films.<\/p>\n

Woodley initially had scheduling issues as an obstacle to the deal making, having had offers to play both Mary Jane and the\u00a0Divergent<\/em>\u00a0lead. But the Mary Jane role is proving to be only a very small part in\u00a0Amazing Spider-Man 2<\/em>\u00a0but blossoms into an integral lead for the planned third movie as the studio seeks to build to the classic \u201cDeath of Gwen Stacy\u201d story.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While fans did see this coming, but it is interesting to note that its implying that we will once again see The Green Goblin<\/strong>, and more or less could imply it would be in similar fashion to his first film appearance, but this time, Spider-Man<\/strong> doesn’t save the girl in time.<\/p>\n
