{"id":5847,"date":"2012-08-08T18:39:40","date_gmt":"2012-08-09T01:39:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wakingideas.com\/blog\/?p=5847"},"modified":"2012-08-08T18:39:40","modified_gmt":"2012-08-09T01:39:40","slug":"wb-wants-ben-affleck-to-direct-the-justice-league-film","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theculturednerd.org\/?p=5847","title":{"rendered":"WB wants Ben Affleck to direct &#8216;The Justice League&#8217; film"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5848\" src=\"http:\/\/wakingideas.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/In-The-Light-of-Justice-League.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"597\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.showblitz.com\/2012\/08\/warner-bros-approaching-ben-affleck-for-justice-league-directing-job.html\">Variety\/Showblitz<\/a> has broken the news that <strong>Warner Brothers<\/strong> has approached<strong> Ben Affleck<\/strong> to helm the upcoming adaptation of <strong>DC Comics <em>The Justice League.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the article, multiple sources claim that the choice is heavily influenced on the fact that <strong>Christopher Nolan<\/strong> has &#8220;<em>declared himself out of the running&#8221;<\/em> and because of the commercial success that <strong>Affleck<\/strong> had brought the studio with the critically acclaimed film<strong><em> The Town.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sources indicate that currently <strong>Affleck<\/strong> is the only candidate who\u2019s actually been sent <strong>Will Beall\u2019s <em>JUSTICE LEAGUE<\/em><\/strong> script, which according to reports the <strong><em>GANGSTER SQUAD<\/em><\/strong> scribe was hired to write last summer.<\/p>\n<p>For those who don&#8217;t know what <em><strong>The Justice League<\/strong><\/em> is, basically its <strong>DC Comics<\/strong>\u2019 equivalent to <strong>Marvel\u2019s<em> The Avengers<\/em><\/strong>, however <em><strong>The Justice League<\/strong><\/em> features <strong>DC Comics<\/strong> most prominent (if not the most popular heroes of both <strong>DC<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Marvel<\/strong>) such as<strong> Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman<\/strong> and<strong> The Flash<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately there is one hitch, reports state that <strong>Affleck<\/strong> has made it very clear that he\u2019s currently only interested in directing films that he may also star in (<em><strong>THE TOWN<\/strong><\/em> and <strong><em>ARGO<\/em><\/strong>) so its likely that the Actor\/Director would want to be one of the main superheroes if he would take the job, which many fans would disagree with at this point.
