Starting with a twitter<\/a> post, and now confirmed by Variety<\/a> that a conference call had just taken place with Disney Investors<\/strong>, and they have announced that Joss Whedon<\/strong> has now been confirmed to be both writing and directing The Avengers 2<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Bob Iger<\/strong> (the chairman and chief executive of The Walt Disney Company<\/strong>) also revealed that Joss Whedon<\/strong> is now going to be involved with the development of the long rumored and recently announced an ABC<\/strong> live action television series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

While Avengers 2<\/strong><\/em> currently has no official release date, it is confirmed to be taking place after the “Phase 2<\/strong>” set of movies, that include Iron Man 3, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Thor: The Dark World, Guardians of the Galaxy, <\/strong><\/em>and<\/strong> Ant-man<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
