Discovery<\/strong> has confirmed that several of the most anticipated bonus features, including Gunn\u2019s <strong>director\u2019s commentary<\/strong>, a <strong>gag reel<\/strong>, and <strong>deleted scenes<\/strong>, will be <em>exclusive<\/em> to the digital release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The news comes as the film, DC Studios\u2019 first big-screen outing in its new continuity, prepares to hit home formats. <em>Superman<\/em> will debut digitally on <strong>August 15<\/strong>, while physical media fans will have to wait until <strong>September 23<\/strong> for the 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD editions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While both formats will include a healthy roster of behind-the-scenes content, from featurettes on many of the main characters, the fact that three high-demand extras are being withheld from the disc versions is a kryptonite-sized disappointment for physical media enthusiasts. Gunn\u2019s director\u2019s commentary in particular is likely to be a major draw, as the filmmaker\u2019s blend of humor, honesty, and insider knowledge has made his past commentaries entertaining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The move reflects an increasingly common studio strategy: incentivizing digital purchases with exclusive content. For collectors who value shelf appeal, packaging, and the higher video\/audio fidelity of physical media, this is a frustrating trade-off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Still, even without those exclusives, the disc editions aren\u2019t exactly barebones.
