The last we heard was when <strong>Lucasfilm<\/strong> president <strong>Kathleen Kennedy<\/strong> made the shocking announcement at the studio\u2019s showcase during <strong>London\u2019s Star Wars Celebration<\/strong>, that three new Star Wars projects were in development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first of these projects will be helmed by <strong><em>Logan<\/em><\/strong> director <strong>James Mangold<\/strong>, which will be set in the distant past, exploring the dawn of the <strong>Jedi<\/strong>. Meanwhile, a second movie that centers on <strong>Daisy Ridley<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>Rey<\/strong> that will be directed by <strong>Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy<\/strong>, following Rey as she builds a new <strong>Jedi Order<\/strong>. Lastly,<strong> Dave Filoni<\/strong>\u2019s project will focus on the <strong>New Republic<\/strong> and \u201cclose out\u201d the interconnected stories that are told in series including <strong><em>The Mandalorian<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>The Book of Boba Fett<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>Ahsoka<\/em><\/strong>, and other <strong>Disney+<\/strong> shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/11\/star-wars-trilogy-simon-kinberg-movies-1236169916\/\"><strong><em>Deadline<\/em><\/strong><\/a> is reporting that <strong>Simon Kinberg<\/strong> has been tapped to write and produce a new trilogy of Star Wars filmed that is being developed by Lucasfilm and Kennedy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/theculturednerd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/IMG_5832.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44539\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kinberg is best known for writing and producing several films in the now defunct (?) <strong>X-Men<\/strong> franchise for <strong>20th Century Fox<\/strong>, including this year&#8217;s <strong><em>Deadpool &amp; Wolverine<\/em><\/strong>. He also produced <strong>The Martian<\/strong>, which earned him an <strong>Academy Award<\/strong> nomination for Best Picture and made his directorial debut with <strong><em>X-Men: Dark Phoenix<\/em><\/strong>. Kinberg has also worked previously worked as a co-creator on the Emmy-nominated animated series <strong><em>Star Wars Rebels<\/em><\/strong>, and was also a consultant on <em><strong>Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While <em>Deadline<\/em> suggests this trilogy could continue the <strong>Skywalker Saga<\/strong> with Episodes 10-12, <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/star-wars-simon-kinberg-trilogy-1236055848\/\">The Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/em><\/strong> suggests that the new story is intended to feature entirely new characters and plotlines, though familiar faces from past films may still make an appearance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new story is not meant to be a continuation of the Skywalker Saga, the name of the overall arc of the popular and pop culture-dominating Star Wars movies known as Episodes 1 through 9. The intent here is to have brand new characters and a new story, and not have it be a continuation, according to sources. (Although that does not mean that some characters could not or would not pop up) &#8211; <em>The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>What are your thoughts on the news?
