Currently, there is no director attached to the film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mackie made his <strong>Marvel Cinematic Universe<\/strong> debut as the high-flying <strong>Sam Wilson <\/strong>aka<strong> The Falcon<\/strong> in 2014&#8217;s <em>Captain America: The Winter Soldier.<\/em> Since then, he has appeared as the winged hero in five MCU films, including a cameo appearance in 2015&#8217;s <em>Ant-Man<\/em>. In 2019, we saw <strong>Steve Rogers<\/strong> pass the Captain America shield to Sam, who would eventually go on to officially assume the mantle in the <strong>Disney Plus<\/strong> series <em>The Falcon and the Winter Soldier<\/em>. The series tackled the issue of Sam&#8217;s hesitance to take over as Captain America, and more specifically, what it would mean for a black man to wear the stars and stripes as America&#8217;s premiere hero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"452\" src=\"https:\/\/theculturednerd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/mackie-shield-1024x452.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-39957\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theculturednerd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/mackie-shield-1024x452.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/theculturednerd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/mackie-shield-300x132.jpg 300w, https:\/\/theculturednerd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/mackie-shield-768x339.jpg 768w, https:\/\/theculturednerd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/mackie-shield.jpg 1170w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taking on the role of the star-spanlged Avenger is undoubtedly a massive highlight of Mackie&#8217;s career. He co-starred in the critically-acclaimed <strong>Eminem<\/strong> biopic<em> 8 Mile<\/em>, and later went on to act alongside fellow Avenger<strong> Jeremy Renner<\/strong> in 2009&#8217;s <em>The Hurt Locker<\/em>, which later went on the win<strong> Best Picture<\/strong> at the <strong>Academy Awards<\/strong>. In each of those films, Mackie&#8217;s performance was spotlighted as a standout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is no word on any further casting. Several cast members of <em>The Falcon and Winter Soldier<\/em> could make an appearance in the film, with the most likely of those being co-star <strong>Sebastian Stan<\/strong> as <strong>Bucky Barnes<\/strong> (formerly known as <strong>The Winter Soldier<\/strong>). Given that possible villain <strong>Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine<\/strong>, played by veteran actress<strong> Julia Louis-Dreyfus<\/strong>, has made a handful of MCU appearances, it is quite possible she could show up in the fourth Captain America film as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No official release date for <em>Captain America 4<\/em> has been announced but with Marvel&#8217;s current film slate full, it&#8217;s likely that we won&#8217;t see Mackie suit up as Captain America until sometime in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Are you excited to Anthony Mackie&#8217;s return as the winged Captain America?
