Batman Forever<\/em><\/strong> is a film with a huge story behind it. Tim Burton<\/strong> was supposed to direct the sequel to 1992’s Batman Returns,<\/em><\/strong> titled Batman Continues<\/strong><\/em>, with Michael Keaton<\/strong> and Michelle Pfeiffer.<\/strong> There has been speculation that the film would include Billy Dee Williams<\/strong> as Harvey Dent,<\/strong> Marlon Wayans<\/strong> as Robin <\/strong>and even the possibility of Robin Williams <\/strong>as The Riddler.<\/strong> Nevertheless, Warner Bros. <\/strong>wanted to step aside from Burton’s darker tone for something more appealing for the younger audiences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They hired Joel Schumacher <\/strong>to direct the now-titled Batman Forever<\/em> with Val Kilmer <\/strong>as Bruce Wayne\/Batman, Chris O’Donnell<\/strong> as Dick Grayson\/Robin, Tommy Lee Jones <\/strong>as Harvey Dent\/Two-Face,<\/strong> Jim Carrey<\/strong> as Edward Nygma\/The Riddler, <\/strong>and Nicole KIdman <\/strong>as Dr. Chase Meridian. <\/strong>The finished product was an interesting take on the character, more light-toned compared to its predecessors, but not as light as the following entry, Batman and Robin<\/em><\/strong>. Nonetheless, it seems that was not Schumacher’s original vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the decades have gone by, there has been confirmation that the director’s cut of the film does indeed exist<\/a>. The film, with an speculated, almost-3 hour running time, has been labeled to be more darker and psychological, diving into Batman’s traumas. In a recent YouTube<\/a> interview with the Austin Film Festival,<\/strong> Batman Forever’<\/em>s screenwriter, Akiva Goldsman<\/strong> confirmed that he has recently seen the director’s cut and that he believes the film will have a “renaissance”. He hopes the film could be released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
