Marvel Studios<\/strong>\u2019 first Disney+<\/strong> show, WandaVision<\/em><\/strong>, has reached its conclusion and while the series as a whole was universally praised by fans, there\u2019s been levels of disappointment expressed by the fans for the show going against a majority of the fan theories put out there. One of the more popular fan theories that was flown around was the idea of Mephisto<\/strong>, Marvel\u2019s<\/strong> version of the Devil<\/strong>, being the big bad of the series along with Katheryn Hahn\u2019s Agnes\/Agatha Harkness<\/strong>. It seemed as new characters began to join the fold, fans almost immediately began theorizing that they were Mephisto in disguise. As the series played out, Mephisto did not show up and it turns out much of the chaos surrounding Wanda<\/strong> and Vision<\/strong> in Westview<\/strong> really was either Wanda or Agatha all along, much to the dismay of fans. Fans searching for reasons why the series ultimately decided to omit the big bad may have been given an answer yesterday and it sounds like Mephisto never factored in to any early plans for the plot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During an interview with\u00a0Deadline<\/em>,<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0WandaVision\u2019s<\/em> executive producer and head writer, Jac Schaeffer<\/strong>, revealed why Mephisto wasn\u2019t the \u201cbig bad\u201d of the series. You can check out her comments down below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I mean, the big bad is grief, you know, and that\u2019s the story that we were telling, and then we got a bonus baddie in the form of Agatha Harkness who ended up facilitating Wanda\u2019s therapy, so yeah, I think we feel pretty good about that.”<\/strong><\/p>WandaVision\u2019s<\/em> EP\/head scribe Jac Schaeffer on Mephisto not being the big bad of the series. In addition, Schaeffer was also asked why Doctor Strange<\/strong>, who was referenced by Agatha in the series finale, never appeared to set-up Wanda’s role in Doctor Strange <\/em><\/strong>In The Multiverse of Madness<\/strong><\/em>, and based on her response, it sounds like that might have been something that\u00a0the series\u2019 writers considered. “I heart Doctor Strange just like anybody. Yeah, it\u2019s one of those things, that\u2019s how the chips fell, that\u2019s how the cookie crumbled, is what I will say, but I look forward to seeing him on screen with Wanda in Doctor Strange 2.”<\/strong><\/p>Schaeffer on why Doctor Strange never appears in WandaVision<\/em>. While fans are sure to be disappointed by Schaefer\u2019s recent comments, WandaVision<\/em> ushered fans into the new era of Marvel Studios\u2019 storytelling and subtly set up some potentially game changing plot threads moving forward in the MCU<\/strong>. Nonetheless, with series like The<\/em><\/strong> Falcon and the Winter Solider<\/em><\/strong> and Loki<\/em><\/strong> next up on the Disney+ docket, fans certainly have a lot of unique MCU<\/strong> content to look forward to. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
