Not only does Marvel Studios’ Blade<\/strong> project starring Mahershala Ali<\/strong> have a new official title, but it finally has a screenwriter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official title of the upcoming project is Blade, the Vampire Slayer,<\/strong><\/em> and Watchmen<\/em> writer and playwright Stacy Osei-Kuffour <\/strong>has officially been hired by Marvel Studios<\/a> for the script. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ali, who has won two Academy Awards, set up a meeting with Kevin Feige <\/a>after his second win to directly ask him about Blade and if he could play him. It was finally announced by Marvel themselves at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019 that Ali would play Blade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marvel with Ali involved reportedly spent the last six months looking for the right screenwriter, with black writers being the only ones seriously considered. Osei-Kuffour will be the first black woman to write a Marvel film. Besides Watchmen<\/em>, which earned her a Writers Guild of America<\/strong> award, she’s worked on other acclaimed shows like Hunters, Pen15,<\/em> and Run<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
