AT&T<\/strong> and Warner Bros\u2019<\/strong> streaming platform, HBO Max<\/strong>, is inching closer to becoming a behemoth in the \u201cstreaming wars\u201d due to its recent, highly controversial decision of simultaneously releasing big budget movies on HBO Max and in movie theaters. As a result of this monumental decision, its sometimes easy to forget some of the exciting small screen projects that are slated to release on the streaming platform, such as James Gunn\u2019s<\/strong> Peacemaker<\/em><\/strong> series. The John Cena<\/strong> led series is a spinoff series that focuses on Christopher Smith<\/strong>\/Peacemaker<\/strong>, a character that will be first introduced to the DC Extended Universe<\/strong> in the upcoming sequel (reboot?) The Suicide Squad<\/em><\/strong>. After the series was initially\u00a0announced<\/a>\u00a0back in September, it was\u00a0officially<\/a>\u00a0announced that\u00a0Steve Agee<\/strong>,\u00a0Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Chris Conrad<\/strong>\u00a0was added to the series cast. Now, it appears that cast is growing even more as a new report points HBO Max\u2019s Peacemaker<\/em> series adding four new cast members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to\u00a0a report from weekly The Hollywood Reporter\u2019s Heat Vision<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>newsletter, James Gunn has added Lochlyn Munro, Chukwudi Iwuji, Annie Chang<\/strong>, and Christoper Heyerdahl<\/strong> to the cast of the highly anticipated series. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lochlyn Munro is best known for his role as Betty Cooper’s<\/strong> dad on CW\u2019s\u00a0Riverdale<\/em><\/strong>, and also appeared in\u00a0White Chicks<\/em><\/strong>. Chukwudi Iwuji has primarily worked in theater throughout his career, but he has had recurring roles on\u00a0popular series such as Designated Survivor<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0When They See Us<\/em><\/strong> and will appear in Barry Jenkins\u2019<\/strong> upcoming Amazon<\/strong> series,\u00a0The Underground Railroad<\/em><\/strong>. Actress Annie Chang has popped up throughout the last two seasons of NBC\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0Shades of Blue<\/em><\/strong> while Christopher Heyerdahl has had roles on AMC\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0Hell on Wheels<\/em><\/strong>, SYFY\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0Van Helsing<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0series and has also appeared in\u00a0Sicario: Day of the Soldado<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and Disney+\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0Togo<\/em><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As revealed by James Gunn, Munro and Chang will be playing Police Detectives Sophie Song and Larry Fitzgibbon<\/strong> respectively. Meanwhile, Heyerdahl will be playing Song and Fitzgibbon\u2019s police captain, Captain Locke<\/strong>. Additionally, Iwuji is playing a character named Clemson Murn<\/strong>, but no further details about Murn were revealed beyond that. With the series expected to begin shooting in Vancouver<\/strong> in January, it appears that the series\u2019 cast is beginning to take its final form, a sign that will no doubt escalate the fans excitement around the series. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

HBO Max\u2019s Peacemaker<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0series will spin off of Gunn\u2019s\u00a0upcoming The Suicide Squad<\/em><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0film and feature John Cena reprising his role as the titular character. Previously, Gunn recruited Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, and Chris Conrad to play supporting roles on the show as well <\/strong>as Steve Agee and Jennifer Holland reprising their\u00a0roles as John Economos<\/strong> and Emilia Harcourt<\/strong> from the upcoming DCEU entry. Gunn scripted all eight episodes of the series, and is directing multiple episodes including the pilot episode. The series is rumored to begin shooting in Vancouver this upcoming January and will be released exclusively on HBO Max. The Suicide Squad<\/em>\u00a0is tentatively scheduled to be released on August 6th 2021 while HBO Max\u2019s\u00a0Peacemaker<\/em>\u00a0series has yet to land a official release date. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
