Well After an entire year of bad news and movies being almost synonymous with each other, finally there is some good news in 2020 for movies! As of today, these three films and many others have been added to <strong>The National Film Registry<\/strong>! The National Film Registry is defined as \u201c<em>The United States National Film Preservation Board&#8217;s (NFPB) selection of films which are believed to be deserving of preservation.<\/em>\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/YvE5SJd7oleggvMknSHy-oOY-8mrMknpPwYv2CF91w8jOf0d69Csf_RdwbeSvG1wG6tLF-Cc0IMzY4ZX4O16Y3N-PXLGM1H8kEF8sneaFOVlMSGs16zv3bi5y90KbkarvJgJrE4X\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a film like <em>The Blues Brothers<\/em>, something like that is to be expected. However, films such as <em>Shrek<\/em>, and <em>The Dark Knight<\/em> were films that no one thought would go on to earn the highly coveted \u201cclassic\u201d status in the movie world, but they did and it isn\u2019t a stretch to say that they may just be some of the most well remembered films in cinematic history.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/3IYVy6O_yc4o1sJIgm6q_9fkyv6ZcO0aaYRSeX1aUsJZZoqj5ub6CCwOmC9WhOeIbWjtRtlajQJCdD559HZ-wCPmuSCLOwWmH4e04W5atwd5vPZAOWLwZuFa-KNFJC8cPkzdJvcw\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other notable films that have been added to the registry are <strong>Kathryn Bigelow\u2019s<\/strong> intense war flick <strong><em>The Hurt Locker<\/em><\/strong>, possibly the most well remembered musical of all time <strong><em>Grease<\/em><\/strong>, and <strong><em>Lilies of The Field<\/em><\/strong>. <strong>Sidney Poitier\u2019s <\/strong>role in <em>Lilies of The Field <\/em>earned him an Oscar for best actor, and in doing so, he became the first African American to win an Oscar, opening doors for many actors to come after him.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/HZVxdEhEoxTPu1y_sXpmZksvnCe30cJBP8PGKxLnXk6r7rl6gweiChotrITPl16vVwdWMQxKDLO7NHPzRURw4IpjTIaChL995WJeD7-kAFJRVSFU9ECppHA7Bfs5W3c0porH7EN_\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kathryn Bigelow had this to say in regards to <em>The Hurt Locker<\/em> being included. \u201c<em>My desire in making The Hurt Locker was to honor those in uniform serving in dangerous posts abroad, so I have been gratified by the resonance the film has had over the last ten years. For it to be selected by the National Film Registry is both humbling and thrilling.<\/em>\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/gly774FuGqLE0UOBvsvIIYPG_6s3ciAayk-HgK2UdLl1lxLPnozc8e8Vi6aAufpr5-clnQla_wjIQYHod-Zv5jkfcEBGPymeUHtswPqRHvRXL5j-AxQDDsviyoVuRKZsITA4mOcy\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Jon Landis <\/strong>on his road trip classic <em>The Blues Brothers<\/em>. \u201c<em>Having The Blues Brothers chosen to be included in the National Film Registry is both a great honor and a delightful surprise.
