The film will once again be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer with the principal cast expected to return.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2020\/film\/news\/national-treasure-3-disney-jerry-bruckheimer-national-treasure-3-1203471524\/\">Variety<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The \u201cNational Treasure\u201d franchise, starring\u00a0Nicolas Cage\u00a0as amateur cryptologist Benjamin Franklin Gates, was a solid performer for\u00a0Disney\u00a0with $347 million worldwide for the 2004 original and $457 million for 2007\u2019s \u201cNational Treasure: Book of Secrets.\u201d The first film centered on a treasure map on the back of the Declaration of Independence; the second focused on missing pages in John Wilkes Booth\u2019s diary.<\/p>\n<p>Jon Turtletaub directed both films. Justin Bartha, Diane Kruger, Harvey Keitel, Armando Riesco and Jon Voight appeared in both films.
