It\u2019s a sad day for fans of the 1980\u2019s classic Ghostbusters.<\/i><\/p>\n

Unless you live under a rock, you may have heard that the kooky comedy is getting its own reboot soon. All of us have experienced the atrocity that is Hollywood\u2019s attempt at a remake, and we have one more to add to the list. We were all hopeful that one of the many attempts at Ghostbusters 3<\/i> would come to fruition, but up-and-coming directors were never able to get full buy-in from the right people.<\/p>\n

Enter: Bridesmaids<\/i> director Paul Feig. Sources say Feig is currently in talks with several leading ladies to join the cast of the reboot.<\/p>\n

\"Ghostbuster<\/a><\/p>\n

Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, and Leslie jones will be killing ghosties for us soon. I, for one, am pretty disappointed. Don\u2019t get me wrong, I love these ladies in SNL<\/i>, among other things, but not a single one of them can hold a candle to Bill Murray\u2019s Peter Venkman. A big part of the reason the original Ghostbusters<\/i> worked so well was the dynamite cast and classic 80\u2019s humor. I personally didn\u2019t like Bridesmaids,<\/i> and I think it\u2019s safe to say that the humor will be similar. The best we can hope for now is a trashy cover, which will more than likely turn the nerdy source material into an overly-romantic chick flick.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t get me wrong; I\u2019m all for girl power. We need to see more female-lead comedies. These ladies are wonderful comedians, but lack that extra something special that takes a star from stand-up, to the cinema. I think the cast may have even worked for a Ghostbusters<\/i> sequel; although, IMO, Amy Poehler and Rashida Jones would have made better leading ladies.<\/p>\n

What becomes of the film remains to be seen, although some remain hopeful. Original Ghostbuster and co-writer Dan Aykroyd \u00a0told The Hollywood Reporter:<\/i><\/p>\n

inheritance\u00a0<\/i><\/strong>of the Ghostbusters \u00a0<\/i><\/strong>torch<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

by these most magnificent women in comedy.”<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

Aykroyd went on to mention that his great-grandfather was a man who worked to empower women, and he\u2019s proud that the trend is continuing. Personally, I\u2019m not holding my breath, and will likely wait for a DVD release.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
