\nIts no secret that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 didn’t meet everyone’s expectations. From lackluster reviews, to the less than anticipated box office take, Sony’s latest swing with the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man may has caused some serious ripples in their plans.<\/p>\n

However, over the last several days some rumors have begun circulating that Sony is looking at 3 different options for the future of the Spider-Man franchise.<\/p>\n

OPTION 1)<\/strong> Allow Disney\/Marvel to use Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, creating a joint venture where the profits are shared.<\/p>\n

OPTION 2)<\/strong> Reboot the Spider-Man franchise once again with the upcoming Sinister Six film, giving once again a new take on the franchise with new actors.<\/p>\n

OPTION 3)<\/strong> Put Spider-Man on the shelf for a few years and give focus on other characters within the Spider-Man universe.<\/p>\n

Obviously the first option is the one everyone is rooting for, and option 2 being the one that everyone is dreading. But where are these rumors is this coming from?<\/p>\n

The first of the three comes from HitFix<\/a>, where they revealed that due to the Marvel Studios is looking to bring their current Spider-Man into their Cinematic Universe as a means to boost sales on their own franchise. This move wouldn’t require the character to be rebooted once again, but he would just appear in either a quick cameo or a more established interaction.<\/p>\n

“While I can’t get the confirmations I need to verify the story, I’m hearing that there are some very cool “Spider-Man” plans being discussed that would help Sony refocus their enormously important franchise while also opening up some connections in the onscreen Marvel movie universe that would blow fandom’s minds. Will it work out? I don’t know. I would love to be able to state for sure that it’s happening. What seems clear from what I’ve heard is that Marvel wants to be able to play with all of their characters, and if they can make that work creatively and on a corporate level, they will, and that means the world gets bigger again.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The other two options seem to be the ones nobody wants right now.\u00a0Badass Digest<\/a>\u00a0has now revealed that they too have heard about plans to possibly incorporate Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but they have heard two other options as well, those being the ones listed above.<\/p>\n

“Sony is going to soft reboot Spider-Man with The Sinister Six, having a new actor playing a Spidey who works with the villains The Dirty Dozen style to take down a larger threat.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And in regards to the other option:<\/p>\n

“Sony is going to put Spider-Man on the shelf for four or five years and see if they can develop any of the side characters into their own franchises. “<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But one thing is clear to them, “I’ve also heard that Venom\u00a0<\/b>is functionally dead again.”\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

While at this point, nobody wants the latter two options to come to fruition. Sony should stick with the Spider-Man that they now have established and live with the story they set up, nobody wants them to reboot again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
