{"id":12269,"date":"2014-05-09T08:08:31","date_gmt":"2014-05-09T15:08:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theculturednerd.com\/?p=12269"},"modified":"2014-05-09T08:08:31","modified_gmt":"2014-05-09T15:08:31","slug":"dualshock-4-light-bar-created-for-project-morpheus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theculturednerd.org\/?p=12269","title":{"rendered":"DualShock 4 Light Bar Was Created For Project Morpheus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theculturednerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/DualShock-4-640x353.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-12277\" src=\"http:\/\/theculturednerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/DualShock-4-640x353.jpg\" alt=\"DualShock-4-640x353\" width=\"504\" height=\"278\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In a recent release from Jed Ashforth, Senior Designer at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, we finally know what the Light Bar is for on the PS4 DualShock Controller.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe tracking light\u2026 it was our department that said we need that on,\u201d said Ashforth. \u201cIt was for tracking for VR, and when all these things were coming out six months ago and everyone was going \u2018it\u2019s reflecting in my TV,\u2019 we were going \u2018oh no\u2019 because we couldn\u2019t tell anyone what it was for.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Turns out, it wasn&#8217;t just Sony wanting to look like Tron. The mysterious Light Bar was in fact created to be used with <a title=\"Project Morpheus\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.us.playstation.com\/2014\/03\/18\/introducing-project-morpheus\/\">Project Morpheus<\/a> all along. Sony released their VR footage of &#8220;The Deep&#8221; which gave us an up close look at the usability of the new gaming experience.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Watch Gameplay of Playstation VR&#039;s The Deep\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_WzpLtCw9r0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Along with the news to the Light Bar being used with Project Morpheus, we also got a stunning new update for the Light Bar in Update 1.70 that allows us to dim the Light Bar itself.
