{"id":11848,"date":"2014-04-17T11:58:44","date_gmt":"2014-04-17T18:58:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theculturednerd.com\/?p=11848"},"modified":"2014-04-17T11:58:44","modified_gmt":"2014-04-17T18:58:44","slug":"zack-snyder-talks-batmansuperman-including-costumes-marvel-and-adding-batman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theculturednerd.org\/?p=11848","title":{"rendered":"Zack Snyder Talks \u2018Batman\/Superman\u2019 including Costumes, Marvel, and Adding Batman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theculturednerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/man-of-steel-zack-snyder-la-11-13-12.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-11849\" src=\"http:\/\/theculturednerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/man-of-steel-zack-snyder-la-11-13-12.jpg\" alt=\"man-of-steel-zack-snyder-la-11-13-12\" width=\"504\" height=\"334\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In a recent interview with Forbes, Zack Snyder sat down and discussed many of the fan&#8217;s biggest questions for the upcoming Batman\/Superman film, including the heroes Costumes,competition Marvel, and adding Batman to the mix for the sequel.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of Adding Batman to the film, Zack Snyder responded:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I gotta be honest, it definitely was a thing that\u2026 after Man of Steel finished and we started talking about what would be in the next movie, I started subtly mentioning that it would be cool if he faced Batman. In the first meeting, it was like, \u201cMaybe Batman?\u201d Maybe at the end of the second movie, some Kryptonite gets delivered to Bruce Wayne\u2019s house or something. Like in a cryptic way, that\u2019s the first time we see him. But then, once you say it out loud, right? You\u2019re in a story meeting talking about, like, who should [Superman] fight if he fought this giant alien threat Zod who was basically his equal physically, from his planet, fighting on our turf\u2026 You know, who to fight next? The problem is, once you say it out loud, then it\u2019s kind of hard to go back, right? Once you say, \u201cWhat about Batman?\u201d then you realize, \u201cOkay, that\u2019s a cool idea. What else?\u201d I mean, what do you say after that? \u2026But I\u2019m not gonna say at all that when I took the job to do Man of Steel that I did it in a subversive way to get to Batman. I really believe that only after contemplating who could face [Superman] did Batman come into the picture.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When asked about the photos of the film, including costumes and when they will be revealed, Snyder revealed:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Unfortunately, I don\u2019t even know the timeline\u2026 Because the movie takes place so far from now, it\u2019s hard to know exactly. That all gets tied to marketing and strategies for the movie. It\u2019s not just a free-for-all, which I\u2019d love it to be. Because I take a picture of the suit with my camera\u2013 I\u2019m actually staring at one right now in my office. And it\u2019s just massive on my wall in my office and it\u2019s epic, let me tell you! And I\u2019m like, \u201cGod, I want to send this to the Internet immediately.\u201d But I know I\u2019m not allowed to [laughs]! I do value the sort of excitement of the way the film is [revealed]\u2026 the pieces that are released and sort of trickle out to everybody, and those reveals are exciting milestones for us.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When Zack Snyder was asked about the competition between Marvel and DC, and how from the interviewer&#8217;s perspective despite the competition nobody wants to cause the other\u2019s films to fail, he asked Snyder&#8217;s opinion of this:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I think that\u2019s 100% true. Look, I\u2019m a fan of the Marvel movies\u2026 and the thing that\u2019s awesome is, we make a different movie. We have a different product than them, although they both exist in sort of the superhero world, which is great. I think that those are the opportunities. That\u2019s what you get at the movies, you get a chance to go to all these different worlds. And I\u2019m as interested in going to the Marvel Universe as anybody. So, I personally don\u2019t think that there\u2019s any, from my point of view, we definitely don\u2019t have any animosity or anything of that nature. We\u2019re all in this big business together, and we hope people are interested in the adventures that we put up on screen. And I do believe it\u2019s infectious, and the next weekend you\u2019re like, \u201cYou know what? Let\u2019s go do that again, that was awesome.
