{"id":11582,"date":"2014-03-20T12:46:35","date_gmt":"2014-03-20T19:46:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theculturednerd.com\/?p=11582"},"modified":"2014-03-20T12:46:35","modified_gmt":"2014-03-20T19:46:35","slug":"google-announces-android-wear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theculturednerd.org\/?p=11582","title":{"rendered":"Google Announces Android Wear"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theculturednerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Google-Android-Wear-smartwatch-001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-11586\" alt=\"Google-Android-Wear-smartwatch-001\" src=\"http:\/\/theculturednerd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Google-Android-Wear-smartwatch-001-300x178.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"178\" \/><\/a>Google recently revealed on their <a href=\"http:\/\/googleblog.blogspot.com\/2014\/03\/sharing-whats-up-our-sleeve-android.html\">Official Blog<\/a>\u00a0that they are expanding their wearable computing from the Google Glass to also include a new set of watches. \u00a0Using their recent acquisition of Motorola, the tech giant will be releasing a number of different models<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">\u00a0to compete with the likes of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.samsung.com\/us\/mobile\/wearable-tech\/SM-V7000ZKAXAR\">Samsung<\/a> in the smart watch market.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The new devices will use voice controls similar to Google Glass to do web searches, and to find local information simply by saying &#8220;Ok Google&#8221; and then what you want. \u00a0The device also uses the microphone to listen to sounds around you, to anticipate what information you might want or need, before you ask for it.<\/p>\n<p>You can check out the promotional video and developer preview to find out more. \u00a0As of now, no retail release date has been announced, but the developer preview SDK <a href=\"http:\/\/developer.android.com\/wear\/index.html?utm_medium=App.net&amp;utm_source=PourOver\">is out now<\/a> so app developers can start working with the features in preparation for the future launch.<\/p>\n<p>Announcement Video:<\/p>\n<p>[youtube id=&#8221;QrqZl2QIz0c)&#8221;
