Introduced by writer Chuck Dixon, Stephanie Brown began her journey as a foil to her villainous father, Cluemaster. Over time, she evolved over various comic arcs, taking on the mantles of Spoiler, Robin, and, eventually, Batgirl. Her character’s resilience, optimism, and determination have made her a popular figure among the DC fanbase. While the character’s journey in the comics has been multifaceted, this film promises a fresh take on her transformation and the challenges she faces in Gotham’s complex landscape.

Who is involved?

The project brings together a diverse ensemble of talent. Adrianna Mazurkiewicz steps into the shoes of Stephanie Brown/Spoiler, with Kevin Porter donning the cape as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Porter, renowned for his portrayal in the fan film Dying is Easy – which has garnered over 10M views on YouTube – brings depth and gravitas to the role, promising an authentic take on the Dark Knight.

The cast also includes R.J. Cecott as Tim Drake/Red Robin, Drew Martyn as Arthur Brown, Timothy J. Cox as Commissioner James Gordon, Carolina Hilderbrand as Detective Renee Montoya, and David Bergquist as Detective Harvey Bullock, among others.

The Girl in the Mask is structured into four distinct acts. The first, titled Call Me Spoiler, is anticipated to run approximately 35 minutes. Once all acts are combined, the film will span around 2 hours. The creators target an early 2024 release for Act 1, with subsequent acts to follow. The film will be accessible on their YouTube channel.

For those interested in supporting this endeavor, there’s an active crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo running through the end of August. Their base funding goal is $40,000, which will cover the production and post-production of Act 1. Stretch goals, ranging from $55,000 to $100,000, promise enhanced visual effects, superior cinematography, and grander sets.
